Renaissance Box, a Kaiser Studios 501(c)(3) program, is a residency initiative that empowers artists and STEM professionals to break down barriers, explore complex ideas, and create transformative experiences for themselves and our community.

MEET THE 2025 WINTER PARTICIPANTS

Program Description

Welcome to Renaissance Box (RB), where artists and STEM Professionals embark on an immersive 10 - 12 week residency journey across Cleveland, merging art and science in unprecedented ways. Our program fosters intentional collaboration, encouraging diverse applicants to explore social issues through cross-disciplinary lenses.

Selected participants receive stipends, dedicated studio spaces, and pairings with professionals from contrasting fields, creating a dynamic mentorship aspect. What sets RB apart is its meticulously structured residency format, leveraging Cleveland's resources to propel innovation.

Mentorship

Our residency team in the arts & STEM professions will also take on three to five high school students from Cuyahoga County, selected through an application process, to mentor, providing the students with invaluable hands-on experience and real-world application of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics (STEAM) disciplines. 

Students

Renaissance Box is available to high school students in Cuyahoga County whose school districts had cut arts funding. Studies show that high school students with access to arts education are twice as likely to graduate college as their peers with no arts education. The selected high school students are also awarded a stipend to assist with travel costs.

All the Tools You Need to Succeed

Our residency participants receive a dedicated studio space located within Ingenuity Cleveland's 100,000 square foot year-round home and incubator space, IngenuityLabs! As a culminating point of Renaissance Box residency, participants must complete a collaborative project ready for exhibition at Ingenuity Cleveland. To deepen the community impact of their work, each team will also host a public engagement event. This could be a hands-on workshop demonstrating their process or a gallery talk that offers insights into the project's inspiration and themes.
Set in Cleveland, Ohio —a city renowned for artistic expression and scientific innovation that serves as the backdrop for our collaborative residency.—our program taps into the rich resources available to us by leveraging the city's world-renowned art museums, cutting-edge research institutions, studios, labs, and vibrant community spaces fuels our initiative. Participants will explore these spaces through guided tours of laboratories, art studios, and cultural institutions. We are inspiring our team and allowing for more opportunities for further collaboration within the community.
